Perhaps you’ve been at Mt Zion recently on a Wednesday evening and heard the sound of music coming from our Fellowship Hall. The Knightwind Ensemble holds their rehearsals at Mt Zion and everybody says they are amazing!
Here is a chance to hear them in concert
The Knightwind Ensemble will be performing their annual Memorial Day “pops” concert at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel of the Chimes, on Monday, May 27, from 1-2 pm. Please join the Ensemble in observance of the holiday as they perform marches and other lighter-fare selections.
About the Knightwind Ensemble
The Knightwind Ensemble has been performing for Milwaukee audiences for over six decades. Beginning in 1956 as a youth activity sponsored by the Milwaukee Elks Lodge No. 46, the group has evolved into Milwaukee’s premier adult wind band. Presenting substantive and challenging programs, the Knightwind Ensemble continually strives to bring high quality concert experiences to its audiences.
Dr. Erik N. Janners, Music Director and Conductor of the Knightwind Ensemble, is internationally recognized as a conductor, scholar and performer. He holds degrees in percussion and conducting from Alma College, the University of Utah, and the University of Alabama. In addition to his duties with Knightwind, Dr. Janners serves as the Director of Music at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a position he has held since 2007.
If you are interested in participating in the Ensemble, their 2018-2019 Season Auditions will be held Sunday, August 12. Go to the Knightwind Ensemble website and complete an audition form. They are currently looking for baritones, but others may audition. Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights from 7:15 to 9:30 PM, September through May at Mt Zion.
