Lenten Giving Cross
Each year during Lent we collect offerings to help with the needs of Reformation Lutheran Church, our partner in ministry. If you would like to help, please take an envelope from the Lenten Giving Cross in the Gathering Space and include it with your donation. You may indicate where you would like your offering designated by checking the box next to the particular need on the card or use your monthly mission envelope to give.
These are the needs for 2018:
- Peer Ministry – $25 or $50 gifts to provide income supplements for individuals who assist at church.
- Serve & Learn Together (SALT) Youth Ministry – $60 to scholarship a youth for one work week; $300 to scholarship a youth to work this summer.
- Staff & Operating Costs – $250 or $500 for salaries; $740 for one month church rent
Thank you for your generosity!
Building a mural – project for all
Lenten coloring posters. Throughout the season of Lent, we’re building a colorful mural that represents the contributions of our whole congregation. This is a cross-generational activity, so everyone is invited to color, from the very young to the “young at heart.” Please help us by coloring in a few more sections on the posters in the Gathering Space.
Outreach for Hope is sharing Lenten Devotions again this year!
“Hope For Our Times”
In keeping with our Outreach for Hope vision, “that strong, vibrant ministries will be centers of HOPE in the midst of every community challenged by poverty within the Greater Milwaukee Synod,” Outreach for Hope will present 40 devotions that both acknowledge some of our current challenges, while pointing out where we can see hope. Our intention is to offer hope by reflecting on the good we can, and are accomplishing through God’s grace.
Devotions will be posted on the Outreach for Hope website. Individuals may also sign up to receive the devotions in their personal email each day. Just scroll down and complete the “Sign up for Outreach for Hope Mailings” form on the right. Be sure to check Lenten Devotions as your selected communication. Printed copies will also be available at both entrances to the sanctuary.
Good Friday Neighborhood Walk
Reformation Lutheran Church will again lead its annual Good Friday walk in the neighborhood of its church located at 3806 W. Lisbon Avenue. Similar to the Stations of the Cross, the group will stop at sites in the community that demonstrate signs of despair and transformation. Scripture will be read, and the group will sing and pray together, uplifting the symbol of the cross in the heart of the city. The walk will begin at 3:15 PM on Friday, March 30th, after a brief time of fellowship. The walk will last approximately one hour and is suitable for all ages. Carpooling is available from Mt. Zion. Please call the church office if you have any questions.
